History
ERVY® - Arguably the oldest gymnastics leotard brand in the world.
We, ERVY Sports Fashion GmbH, are a mid-sized manufacturing company based in Bobingen, Bavaria. For 75 years, we have been producing and distributing customized gymnastics, dance, and sportswear. As a globally recognized specialist in tailor-made individual and team apparel, our brand ERVY® is represented in more than 21 countries worldwide.
Our sportswear is worn in artistic gymnastics, vaulting, figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics, speed skating, trampolining, and many other sports. Since the company was founded in 1948, we have been exclusively committed to Germany as our production location.
1948: Company Founding
The Hungarian-born Alexander von Marosfalvy began his business activities by producing and repairing women’s and men’s underwear in Wehringen, Bavaria. The first business registration was filed on September 11, 1948.
1950: A successful Idea
Mr. von Marosfalvy had the intuitive idea to shift production to gymnastics and dancewear. In February, the first utility model for gymnastics apparel was registered. This was followed by the registration of the company name “ERVY,” which is derived from the last letters of the founder’s first and last names: AlexandER von MarosfalVY.
1952: International Debut
The ERVY® brand made its first international appearance: at the Olympic Games in Helsinki, the German women’s national gymnastics team was outfitted with ERVY® leotards and presentation suits.
1969: The Turning Point
The steadily increasing production volume led to an expansion of the company premises. The current factory in Bobingen, Bavaria, was taken into use.
In addition to the usual cotton garments, gymnastics leotards began to be produced from new synthetic fabrics.
1972: Let’s go, girls!
The international presence of the ERVY® brand reached new heights this year: the gymnasts of the German national team shone in their ERVY leotards at the home Olympics in Munich.
1974: Love from Europe
Through the partnership with the Dutch distributor Rucanor, ERVY® further expanded its presence in the European market.
1981: From Father to Son
Roland Marosfalvy, the son of the company’s founder, took over the leadership of ERVY, continuing the family tradition.
The ’90s: ERVY Gets You Fit!
The rising fitness trend did not catch ERVY® unprepared: the product range was expanded to include new trendy sportswear suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
2009: On to New Heights!
In December 2009, Tatjana Kube took over management. To reflect the international character of the brand, the company “ERVY Sportbekleidung GmbH” was renamed “ERVY Sports Fashion GmbH.”
Thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of the new company owner, numerous additional international markets were successfully tapped. In the meantime, the ERVY® brand is represented in over 21 countries worldwide.
2019: The Gymnastics World Championships Come to Germany
On a 40 m² exhibition space, ERVY showcased its latest collections at the Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart. ERVY Sports Fashion GmbH presented itself to an international professional audience, exchanging ideas with gymnasts, coaches, judges, distributors, and gymnastics enthusiasts. ERVY was supported by two well-known German gymnasts: Sarah Voss and Michelle Timm.
2020: The COVID-19 Pandemic and the Halt of Sports
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the entire world and posed major challenges for individuals as well as businesses, clubs, and institutions. This year also transformed the entire gymnastics and sports landscape. But giving up was not an option! ERVY produced sustainable, washable face masks as well as workwear for hospitals, hotels, and the hospitality industry.
2021: Gymnastics Leotards in 3D
Due to the ongoing contact restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, ERVY embraced innovative approaches to product design and distribution: the first ERVY 3D gymnastics leotards were introduced to the market (see, for example, DYLA/5).
